Hypnosis has long been associated with the strange and mysterious, with sideshows and faith healers, however, the truth of it all is that hypnosis isn't mysterious or supernatural at all.
In therapy, hypnosis usually involves the person experiencing a sense of deep relaxation with their attention narrowed down, and focused on appropriate suggestions made by the therapist.
These suggestions may help people make positive changes within themselves. Long gone are the days when hypnosis was seen as waving watches and controlling people's minds. In a hypnotherapy session you are always in control and you are not made to do anything. It is generally accepted that all hypnosis is ultimately self-hypnosis. A hypnotist merely helps to facilitate your experience - hypnotherapy is not about being made to do things, in fact it is the opposite, it is about empowerment.
Hypnotherapy has been around for hundreds of years, and has been proven to help many thousands of people suffering from all kinds of psychological, physical and behavioural problems.
•All hypnosis is self hypnosis because the person being hypnotised has to want it to happen;
•There is no such thing as a hypnotised feeling, just a feeling of being calmer and more relaxed;
•You will have full knowledge of what is going on around you all of the time;
•You aren’t asleep;
•You are in control at all times;
•Clinical hypnosis is not like stage hypnosis because it is being used professionally, and with a view to helping the client to improve in some way;
There are many different areas that I cover for hypnosis, please feel free to have a look at my "therapy on offer" page.
